TRAINER PROFILE - JULIE WAAGE
Growing
up in Washington State Horseman Zone Show Division and Competitive
Trail Division, Julie Waage competed very well with numerous
high points and Jr. Champion at the end of the year.
Julie also worked with Nancy Bridges, who trains English
& Western Pleasure and now owns a Training & Horse
rental business in Ocean Shores, Washington.
From there, Julie went on
to Meredith Manor Equestrian Center in West Virginia to
get certified as an instructor and trainer. There
she studied Dressage, Jumping, Western, and nutrition.
When she graduated, she worked at Eastside Riding Academy
as an instructor and assistant trainer to the owners.
Since then, she has attended numerous clinics on riding,
horse health and horse behavior.
Julie's show career is with
Appaloosas and Arabians, placing Top Ten and taking a youth
to Regionals. Julie trains all breeds and has also
shown Quarter Horses, Paint Horses and Pintos.
Julie's approach to training
is in being quiet with the horse, so that they are happy
and want to work, and will do what she wants. She
likes for the owners to be involved so that they understand
what the horse has learned, and can continue on as a happy
pair. She takes PRIDE in what she does, and makes
sure all her students—both human and horse—finish
their lessons happy.
